The Sansetsukon

The Sansetsukon is in essence a larger and more complicated version of the nunchaku. It was designed to offer a better strike, while affording good range, but was also useful for defensive purposes. It is longer than the Japanese bo staff, and only a little shorter then the Chinese gun staff. They were designed for defense against longer reaching weapons like spears, and are useful in both short and longer range martial combat. "Acting as an extension of the users arm, the three sectional staff can strike, block, stab, sweep legs and whip, often with different sections of the staff acting at the same time". Such a lethal weapon could be easily concealed as compared to a bo staff or a sword, and could be utilized very well be a trained professional. Weapons and tools such as these could be handled with deadly efficiency and could easily devastate an opponent. As before, the Ninja used any means their disposal to reach their goals, which helped to ensure their infamous reputation.
