The Nunchaku

Nunchaku are one of the most popular items of all time for almost any martial art. No one really knows where the art of Nunchaku(the martial art) originated, it is believed that it started in China or Okinawa. The origin of the weapon is unknown, but two main theories predominate. One theory is that nunchaku were used to thresh rice, but were converted into weapons. However a more likely theory is that a martial artist cut his staff into three pieces, creating what is commonly known today as a sansetsukon, and that nunchaku evolved from that.A well trained user of nunchaku is very formidable, today many countries have banned nunchaku, including England, Canada, Germany, Norway, Spain, and even in the U.S. owning nunchaku is illegal in New York, Arizona, California and Massachusetts. In the time of the Ninja however it was another useful tool at their disposal.
